Atlantic: The Atlantic Region consists of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador, minus the Nunatsiavut region in Labrador.
Western: The Western Region consists of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Yukon, minus the Yukon slope.
Arctic: The Arctic Region is inclusive of the Yukon North slope, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Nunavik, Nunatsiavut, and Hudson and James Bay. This boundary is inclusive of Inuit Nunangat.
Central: The Central Region consists of Ontario and Quebec, minus the Nunavik region in northern Quebec.

Has a good understanding of certain programs and assets.
Program Knowledge and Application Program Knowledge and Application Knowledge of the programs the Canadian Coast Guard manages and supports. Understands the services and delivery of program mandates: Search and Rescue (SAR), Icebreaking (IB), Aids to Navigation (AtoN), Environmental Response (ER), Conservation and Protection (DFO C&P), Oceanography (DFO Science) and Fisheries Research (DFO Science).	1 Position Level: 1 Fundamental Awareness (Common knowledge or an understanding of basic techniques and concepts) Basic knowledge of the Coast Guard and its role as an enabler of various programs.
Incident Command System (ICS) Knowledge Incident Command System (ICS) Knowledge Knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS), its functions, role, and reporting structures. Knowledge of procedures and processes involved in an emergency response.	3 Position Level: 3 Intermediate (Able to successfully complete the necessary tasks in this competency. Knowledge of the relationship between the Coast Guard Safety Management System (SMS) and the ICS. Marine Domain Awareness Knowledge Marine Domain Awareness Knowledge Having true and timely information about everything on, under, related to, adjacent to, or bordering a sea, ocean, or other navigable waterway. This includes all related activities, infrastructure, shipping, vessels, cartography, and natural phenomena. Acts and Regulations Knowledge Acts and Regulations Knowledge An understanding of the acts and regulations pertinent to operational programs, including their affective clauses, sources, authorities, and impacts on a given program or programs in the Canadian Coast Guard.	2 Position Level: 2 Novice (A level of experience has been obtained; may need help when performing a task/skill) Limited knowledge of acts and regulations based on training, researching, and limited experience in a given program setting.
Aids to Navigation (AtoN) Knowledge Aids to Navigation (AtoN) Knowledge Knowledge of the Canadian Coast Guard's navigational aid network, their locations, operation, and maintenance, which includes a range of lights, lighthouses, buoys, beacons, and differential global positioning systems (DGPS). Knowledge of waterways management (WM) which includes a knowledge of the types, locations, and monitoring of the available water depths (Avadepth) program and river structures, when and where applicable.	3 Position Level: 3 Intermediate (Able to successfully complete the necessary tasks in this competency. Some assistance may still be needed but can usually perform the task independently) Practical knowledge in the full range and type of all aids regionally and/or nationally, planning, and training functions in support of design review and scheduling maintenance with fleet partners.

Life Cycle Asset Management Life Cycle Asset Management Employs an integrated approach to optimizing the life cycle of the Canadian Coast Guard’s assets beginning at conceptual design, continuing through shut down, and decommissioning/disposal.	2 Position Level: 2 Novice (A level of experience has been obtained; may need help when performing a task/skill) Advises and follows the Government of Canada's Controlled Goods Directive, directives on fleet management, the Policy on Management of Materiel, and the Directive on Disposal of Surplus Materiel, when and where applicable.
Operation Centre Management Operation Centre Management Monitors and operates systems to schedule and track ships' activities to ensure the best use of available resources for regular program delivery, including emergency situations.	1 Position Level: 1 Fundamental Awareness (Common knowledge or an understanding of basic techniques and concepts) Participates in tours and educational experiences highlighting the workings of operation centres, their mandate, equipment, and staffing.
