POSITION DETAILS: EG-06 Chief Engineer Air Cushion Vehicle
DESCRIPTION
Supervise employees performing overhaul and in-service repair, and troubleshooting on diesel engines and outboard motors as well as conducting electrical and electronic repairs and projects. Manage technical or operations projects in the maritime environment including life cycle maintenance management of civil/structural and or mechanical assets and projects. Provide technical expertise for the assessment of vessel construction projects, refits, and work periods.

Western: The Western Region consists of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Yukon, minus the Yukon slope.
Central: The Central Region consists of Ontario and Quebec, minus the Nunavik region in northern Quebec.

Financial Management for Supervisors/Managers Financial Management for Supervisors/Managers Applies the rules, policies, regulations, and procedures of the Financial Administration Act as they apply to the Canadian Coast Guard as well as the organization's financial assets and management procedures (including related procurement rules) such as: financial authority level and approval process, financial accounting procedures, public accountability, budgeting, projecting, monitoring, reporting, financial auditing, etc.	2 Position Level: 2 Novice (A level of experience has been obtained; may need help when performing a task/skill) Maintains Coast Guard unit assets and property (e.g. office equipment, vehicles, information databases, etc.). Updates budgets and projections. Purchases with credit cards when required. Runs salary and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) reports and statements for managers. Makes budget entries and reconciles accounts with rationales. Tracks and analyzes unit cash flow.
Quality Assurance (QA) Quality Assurance (QA) All planned and systematic activities implemented within the quality system that can be demonstrated to provide assurance that a product or service will meet quality requirements.	2 Position Level: 2 Novice (A level of experience has been obtained; may need help when performing a task/skill) Participates in reviews and prepares quality assurance (QA) reports. Life Cycle Asset Management Life Cycle Asset Management Employs an integrated approach to optimizing the life cycle of the Canadian Coast Guard’s assets beginning at conceptual design, continuing through shut down, and decommissioning/disposal.	3 Position Level: 3 Intermediate (Able to successfully complete the necessary tasks in this competency. Some assistance may still be needed but can usually perform the task independently) Performs all four phases of life cycle materiel management, including assessing and planning materiel requirements, acquiring materiel resources, operating and using, maintaining, and disposing of materiel. Implements the concepts of the Policy Framework for the Management of Assets and Acquired Services.
Troubleshooting Troubleshooting Employs a systematic approach to problems in order to find and correct issues with Canadian Coast Guard assets (e.g. land based, sea based, structural, electronic, etc.).	4 Position Level: 4 Advanced (Performs the actions associated with this skill without assistance. Marine Engineering Systems Operations and Maintenance Marine Engineering Systems Operations and Maintenance Conducts all operations and maintenance activities on shipboard engineering equipment. This includes start up, shut down, monitoring, planning, and reporting functions.	4 Position Level: 4 Advanced (Performs the actions associated with this skill without assistance.
