Atlantic: The Atlantic Region consists of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador, minus the Nunatsiavut region in Labrador.
Western: The Western Region consists of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Yukon, minus the Yukon slope.
Arctic: The Arctic Region is inclusive of the Yukon North slope, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Nunavik, Nunatsiavut, and Hudson and James Bay. This boundary is inclusive of Inuit Nunangat.
Central: The Central Region consists of Ontario and Quebec, minus the Nunavik region in northern Quebec.

Workforce Management (HR) for Supervisors/Managers Workforce Management (HR) for Supervisors/Managers Manages unit or units workforce planning, recruitment, organizational design, classification issues, training and development, employment equity, official languages issues, performance management/labour relations, compensation issues, and rewards/recognition items.	3 Position Level: 3 Intermediate (Able to successfully complete the necessary tasks in this competency. Some assistance may still be needed but can usually perform the task independently) Addresses standard workforce management issues within areas of responsibility (AOR). Heavy Machinery Maintenance Heavy Machinery Maintenance Repairs, troubleshoots, adjusts, overhauls, and maintains mobile heavy-duty equipment.	4 Position Level: 4 Advanced (Performs the actions associated with this skill without assistance. Able to provide assistance to other colleagues when questions arise regarding this skill) Interprets work orders and technical manuals, and drafts service reports and maintenance logs. Checks bulldozers, cranes, graders, and other heavy construction equipment for proper performance and inspects equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Diagnoses faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. Cleans, lubricates, and performs other routine maintenance work on equipment. Adjusts equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools. Tests repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
Painting and Decorating Painting and Decorating Prepares and applies paint or any organic/inorganic coating when applied in the same manner as paints.	3 Position Level: 3 Intermediate (Able to successfully complete the necessary tasks in this competency. Some assistance may still be needed but can usually perform the task independently) Sands and hydro blasts for cleaning, decorative or preparatory purposes steel, concrete, or wood. Installs rubber, fiberglass, acid resistant or metalized linings to tanks, pipes, or other vessels. Installs all wall coverings on buildings or structure surfaces, when and where applicable. Uses hand tools and measuring equipment.
Engineering Review, Decision Making, and Analysis Engineering Review, Decision Making, and Analysis Uses effective approaches with available facts, constraints, and anticipated consequences in marine engineering systems.	2 Position Level: 2 Novice (A level of experience has been obtained; may need help when performing a task/skill) Makes recommendations to approve routine engineering/technical designs and/or project/program specifications of other engineers to meet desired compliance with engineering principles, standards, codes, designs, and statutes.
Tool Care, Use and Maintenance Tool Care, Use and Maintenance Using basic hand held, power, precision stationary or portable tools and precision measuring tools. Performing the required care and maintenance in accordance with established schedules and programs.	4 Position Level: 4 Advanced (Performs the actions associated with this skill without assistance. Able to provide assistance to other colleagues when questions arise regarding this skill) Oversees equipment maintenance, tool inventories and, keeps records. Trains others in the use and maintenance of tools.
Welding Welding Welds metals using manual, semi-automatic, and automatic arc welding equipment. Plans drawings and blueprints. Fabricates, assembles, and welds to make products via the use of hand tools.	4 Position Level: 4 Advanced (Performs the actions associated with this skill without assistance. Able to provide assistance to other colleagues when questions arise regarding this skill) Creates shielded metal arc welds on carbon steel plates, gas metal arc welds on plates and structural members, flux cored arc welds, and gas tungsten arc welds consistent with industry and safety standards. Lays out and cuts materials using plasma arc cutting procedures. Manipulates material using carbon arc gouging consistent with industry and safety standards. Employs metallurgy concepts and skills in the welding laboratory. Inspects and test welds (non-destructive and destructive).
